About Inset Basins

Shop inset basins online at Zure, from a 400mm square to a 620mm rectangle. An inset basin, also called a drop in basin or inset sink, sits in a benchtop cut-out. We deliver Australia-wide (estimated 1 to 10 business days by region) and offer 30-day change of mind returns (T&Cs apply).

Inset Basins for Australian Bathrooms

Our inset basin range includes Poseidon and Mercio basins, mostly in white. Whether it is listed as an inset basin sink or an insert basin, the install is the same. Not sure which suits your vanity? Call 02 9000 1811 or contact our renovation team before you order.

Inset Basin Sizes and Specs

Small inset basin

Poseidon squares 410x410x175mm and 420x420x155mm

500mm inset basin

Poseidon rectangles 485x445x130mm and 515x340x155mm, COSY 49 oval 490x400x185mm

600mm inset basin

COSY oval 605x405x180mm

Large inset basin

COSY 60T 620x425x155mm

We don’t list a 450mm or 550mm inset basin. Ask our team for the nearest size.

Sizes are length x width (front to back) x height, not cut-out size: ask us for the cut-out size before cutting laminate or stone. The COSY 60T has no tap holes and includes an overflow, so the tap mounts on the benchtop or wall. Each listing states whether the basin has one tap hole or none, and whether it has an overflow.

Small Bathroom, Ensuite or Powder Room

Measure vanity depth and tap position first. The Poseidon square (410x410x175mm) is the shortest at 410mm, and the Poseidon matte black is the shallowest at 340mm front to back.

Inset Basin Shapes and Finishes

Oval inset basins soften a straight vanity line, like the COSY 49.

Poseidon squares come 155mm or 175mm high.

Rectangles are the most common, from 485mm to 620mm across both ranges.

All are white except the matte black; COSY is gloss white. For a black inset basin, the Poseidon matte black (515x340x155mm) adds contrast against a white or timber vanity.

Other Basin Styles

Above counter basins and countertop basins sit fully on top of the benchtop. Compare semi inset basins, semi recessed basins or all our bathroom basins to see every style.

Delivery and Returns

Estimated delivery is 1 to 3 business days in Sydney Metro and the ACT, 3 to 5 in NSW rural and Melbourne Metro, and up to 10 elsewhere.

Inspect your basin within 48 hours and report damage with photos.

Change of mind returns run 30 days for uninstalled basins in original packaging, with a 20% restocking fee and return shipping at your cost (T&Cs apply).

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an inset basin?

An inset basin, also called a drop in basin, is held in a benchtop cut-out by its rim.

How is an inset basin different from an undermount basin?

An undermount basin sits beneath the benchtop. An inset basin sits in the cut-out, so its rim stays visible.

Are semi-inset basins good?

Semi-inset basins, also called semi recessed basins, suit shallower vanities, because the front of the bowl projects past the vanity edge. The trade-off is that the bowl reaches further into the room.

How do you install an inset basin?

Check the basin for damage on arrival, before cutting. Ask us for the cut-out size, have the opening cut, then drop the basin in and seal it. A licensed plumber must connect the waste and taps to AS/NZS 3500. Questions? Call 02 9000 1811.
