, by Zure Australia, 4 min reading time

MD – If you’re living in a small studio apartment or are in a transitional period, these trendy décor ideas for small and tired spaces should be right up your alley!

Even though there is plenty of idea room when decorating a big space, a small is perhaps the most fun to decorate also because you have to contemplate harder about what you really want and which plans are disposable. Making a small space your own is a joy that is incomparable, especially if you are young and on your own for the first time, or have moved somewhere unfamiliar, away from loved ones and need a space to feel at home away from home. This goes for any room in your apartment, be it the dining room or the bathroom; from portable lights to vanities bathroom, you can maximize and beautify a small space anyhow. Let’s look at some of the ways it will perhaps be done in the new year.

Portable Lights

Portable lights are some of the most eclectic lights that have come up and become so ubiquitous in recent years. A few years ago they were not as common as they are now and once their endless potentials were realised, portable lights have occurred in nearly every variation of design and style that you can possibly dream up and desire. In 2023, most people would perhaps go for either the retro wooden styles that remain evergreen and contemporary for any room and purpose, or minimalist styles in toned down colours for concentrated light for a reading nook, an outdoor patio, a bedroom desk etc. Portable lights are fantastic for small spaces, especially when you have to make one room utilitarian for multiple purposes like converting a drawing room into a dining one with versatile chairs and sofa cushions. That’s when portable lights and their portability and transformability come in handy and can change the use of a place within minutes.

Shave Cabinets

When it comes to small bathrooms, the key is to maximize the utility of cupboards because they are in the walls that take up zero leg space and can be used as just about anything. Once you experience the comfort and design of vanities bathroom, you will not want to compromise that feature. However, in smaller spaces, you might not have room for an elaborate setting vanities bathroom but you can always create a miniature. Shave cabinets behave as saviors in spaces like this because these cabinets can be used for any number of daily essential storage. However, you can also build your own little bathroom vanity – all you need is a mirror and these shaving cabinets. The bathroom mirror cabinet is the central feature of a setup like this that will not only create new spaces for you out of thin air i.e. walls, but are also endless functional and convenient. Get yourself a single bowled sink with taps bathroom that can be just a tad peculiar like a black or golden to create a personality in your small bathroom and voila! You have a small setup for vanities bathroom without an elaborate countertop or mirror with lights or free standing cupboards hugging your bathroom space. It can look as big as a 750mm vanity and is not even a little bit less stylish or functional if you plan it just right.

Free Standing Bathtub

Speaking of small bathrooms, there is only so many items you can fit in it before you have to list out the essentials and hold yourself back. However, bathtubs can sometimes feel essential to you when your bath time is some of the only time in your day you get to relax and cool down after a long tiring day. You can afford to give up vanities bathroom for functionality but can you perhaps fit a bathtub in a small bathroom? Why, yes you can! There are single person bathtubs and they come in small sizes that can very much fit sizably in your modest space if you minimize any other big cupboard setup. A free standing bathtub can be one of life’s absolute joys. They not only enhance your bathroom experience tenfold and luxuriate the space instantly but aesthetically take it up ten notches. Pair it with a shaggy rug when you’re stepping out and you have the most comfortable bathroom space in your modest little apartment. Get a filter tap above it and make it mixer for your hot baths galore.

We hope some of these décor ideas were helpful in your journey of decorating a small space in 2023. There are, of course, many more wonderful ideas to expand a small space like increasing mirrors and reflective surfaces in the room and elongating the room vertically instead of horizontally. So, remember to think big even when your room is small because home décor creativity is truly boundless.
