By now, you probably know that LED is pretty ubiquitous with any all light fixture. Long gone are the days of incandescent lights and halogens, it’s time for the Light Emitting Diode to replace them and look well while doing it. Even though LED lights are a crucial consideration for many light fixtures that we have in our catalogue beginning from spotlights to pendant lights, LED Globes in themselves need to be looked over and talked about in their own just for being an entire phenomenon in itself. These globes can be used just about anywhere in your house and will last for years without having to be changed at all unlike the old-school halogens that would seem cheaper and brighter upfront but were ultimately an un-wise choice. So, do you want to know more some of the different kinds of LED globes that are available online and that you can purchase to switch up your lighting game? If you do, keep reading!

Types

Even though it may seem like the kind of LED Globe you get doesn’t matter, especially in an aesthetic sense, it might be far from the truth. Most light fixtures have a particular kind of LED bulb that looks best with it and also is the most suitable in terms of colour temperature, wattage and lumens, and shape. Even though you can experiment around with any shape and the most common type of shape for a bulb is a circular one, the technical type of bulb for electricity and power appropriateness does exist. LED bulbs last 25 times longer than incandescent bulbs and five times longer than Compact Fluorescent Bulbs (CFL), so they also come in a few different types. To begin with, they are E27, E14, B22, R15, R63, B15, and PAR38. The e27 Edison Screw bulbs are the most common and versatile LED Globes in the market because they go with most light fixtures. E14 is for smaller installation. The Bs are called bayonets. The Rs are called Reflector bulbs and the difference is in their shapes to accommodate difference fittings of lights. Lastly, the PAR38 bulb is the most high wattage and brightest light of all these and are mostly used as daylight simulators or for task lighting. More than in homes, they are used in offices or official buildings, commercial places with a lot of traffic and population, or for security lighting purposes.

Considerations

The considerations to keep in mind while buying an LED Globe are not many but the little there are important. To start with, this is fairly popular knowledge but LED is mostly bought according to the lumens they emit through brightness and not the wattage. People often make the mistake of measuring the wattage instead of the lumens and this is where they first go wrong. Thus, make sure to read the labels for lumen content before you install an LED Globe anywhere because the approximations and difference in the brightness will make a significant difference. Another common thing to keep in mind, which we had also talked about during Spotlights, is the temperature of the colour of the light that you will get, ranging from warm to cold. Table lamps and living rooms usually use warm lights, while task lighting in kitchens or bathrooms are usually adapted to colder lighting of 4000 Kelvins or up. What is more important to mention here, however, is the feature of dimming. Most LED lights are not dimmable due to an incompatibility in their interior function which needs to be changed or replaced to make the LED Globes dimmable. Thus, make sure to optimize your LED with a dimmer because it makes a big difference to the ambience of a room as a whole. Through dimmers, you can get all the colours in a single bulb, from warmer yellow-white, whiter white and a more bluish white, that can be customized with any and all space. However, we must mention here that most LED bulbs are usually incompatible with a dimmer switch unlike incandescent lights of days past, so if dimming is something that would be super helpful to you, read the labels and buy appropriately. Lastly, not all light fixtures work or should work with LED Globes. LED bulbs appear cooler because they dissipate a lot of heat that needs to be aired out properly in the fixture. Thus, if it is an enclosed light fixture with a shade and not much space for heat to dissipate, the lifespan of your bulb will significantly wan and so will the health of your light source.

We hope you were able to find some options from our catalogue for your new light fixture. Whatever LED Globe you go with, whether traditional or unconventional, you simply cannot go wrong. So, go crazy!
