Buying online for the first time and not sure if it will fit? Not a problem! Today we will help you measure your space and ensure that it will fit.
Different products, different measurements. At ZURE we have tapware, basins, stone tops, bathroom vanities, and "will it fit" is a very common question between our customers.

How to Check your Space

You should be able to measure most items yourself with just a tape measure and by knowing the measurements you are looking for. However, we definitely recommend contacting a professional for more complex jobs, such as plumbing.

Below, some of the items that can be easily measured:

Will My Bathroom Vanity Fit?

Before purchasing a replacement bathroom vanity, this is the information you need to check whether it will fit your bathroom:

Ensure you measure:

  • The height of the cabinet from the floor to the benchtop
  • The width of the cabinet
  • The depth of the bathroom cabinet
  • The thickness of the stone top
  • Consider the legs or kickboards if it is a freestanding vanity
Bathroom vanities standard sizes are: 600mm, 750 mm, 900mm, 1000mm, 1200mm, 1500mm and 1800mm.
Once you have all the information, it is time to measure your bathroom to see if it fits, ensuring there is some space around the vanity. You should allow at least 30 inches in front of the vanity; 42 inches is ideal. Also, ensure there is at least 15 inches between the toilet bowl and the vanity—15 inches is the minimum between the toilet and the wall.

Other things to consider are: bathroom door opening, windows, space for the mirror, bathtub, position.

    Bathroom sink and waste hole

Can you fit a vanity unit to a existing sink? It will depend on the sink design, size, and the vanity waste hole.

Place a tape measure on the existing waste hole; it should be larger than the sink waste hole. Manufacturers will always cut the waste hole larger so that you can move the basin around it, keeping a bit of space between the wall and the vanity edges.

    Tap Hole

Similarly, you can measure the tap hole. All you need it to place the tape measure the hole. To be sure, use the smaller measurement unit: millimeters.

If the tap hole has 40 mm, you will use this measurement to purchase a suitable bathroom mixer/ tap, such as a 32 mm.

Furniture - How to measure my space?

The process is similar when fitting your furniture, in this case you need to measure and take notes of:

    • Measure your space
The length and width of the room where you want to place your furniture.

    • Measure the doorways and hallways
To avoid unnecessary stress, ensure you measure the height, width, and diagonal width, considering door corners, handrails, hinges, stepways, and anything that can't be removed to allow more space for the delivery of your item. Also, remember to move some objects, such as artwork, rugs, and other obstacles.

    • Measure the piece of furniture you want to fit in your space
The height and width of the piece of furniture you want to fit in.

    • Compare the measurements
The golden rule here is that the furniture should have at least 4 inches less than the passage measurements.

If you think the measurements that you got doesn't sound right, contact your builder or licensed trades person.
