World Mental Health Day: Decor Schemes known to alleviate stress

, by Edward Zhao, 4 min reading time

If you’re looking for ways that will make your house more inviting after you’ve come home stressed and just want to feel soothed, we have some décor schemes that might be just right for you.

What is home to you? For most people, beyond it metaphorically being a state of mind or another person, a physical home is a space of rest. After the myriad commitments and responsibilities of the outside world, a home is a promise of no work and a peace of mind. This is why we understand how important it is for your home to look and feel just how you picture it, and bringing you the maximum level of comfort and warmth. Therefore, on this World Mental Heath Day, we have tried to bring you some thematically varied décor schemes that endorse a relaxed and subdued interior design, and that you can use in order to rearrange or redecorate your home to make it more appeasing and suitable to some of your psychological needs.

Mid Century Modern

The mid century modern scheme of interior design is a fairly uncommon choice of interior design for some of its aesthetic choices. It combines a variety of motifs from indoors and outdoors, along with liberally making use of wooden structures, straight lines and neutral tones to make for a minimal and basic look for many. However, this is exactly what is needed for a calming environment in your room. If too much vibrancy in patterns and an over-indulgence in textured fabrics are a cause of discomfort to you, try some subdued lighting in pendant lights kitchen, some tables and chairs wooden, a neutral hued couch, and some outdoor rugs indoors, to get a similarly themed décor that is most pleasing to the eyes and soothing to exist in.

Nordic

If there is one thing common to most of these themes of design mentioned today, it is that they are minimalist in taste. The Nordic design of décor is no different. We cannot over-emphasize the importance of colour schemes while designing your homes to suit the eyes and senses just right and that’s just what the Scandinavian style also does. Along with keeping things modern and sophisticated, they blend textures that aren’t jarring or spontaneous but subtle and inviting, thus avoiding creating a boring design. To break a continuous colour, you can use cushions to break the pattern and add some flavor and comfort to your room. Instead of lights led, use table lamps or pendant lights in unexpected places to create a cozier pattern of lighting. The importance of scents and ample space to spread out in a room goes without saying when you’re seeking a safe and calm environment. Therefore, remember to invest in candles, because good aroma and uncluttered surroundings are paramount to a peace of mind and total well-being.

Boho

Even though it may seem like the boho lifestyle is only made for vibrancy and constant excitement, it gives in just as easily to serenity and peace. While going bohemian, combine some cozy rugs round and rugs white, with some bold but warm-hued textiles and textures adjacent to it. Similarly, wallpapers in the kitchen that have a soft haze but bold patterns are just as comforting. Even in bathrooms, as you soak away all the stress, a colour-blocked wall instead of plain white, and some pendant lights black for the lighting aren’t a bad idea.

Coastal Interior

The coastal interior style of décor has experienced a regurgitation in recent years due to its embrace of certain natural elements in its design that combine coastal motifs with regular indoor furniture to give a beach-like feel to your home, while at the same time maintaining an elegant and functional grounding to your interiors. This is why it makes for such an excellent choice when you’re looking for calming interiors – because what is more calming than greenery and beach-y outdoors? Combine some large windows with ample sunlight during the day, and natural lighting from pendant lights or lights led during the nighttime, with a wall hanging décor of an impressionist painting, along with some indoor plants and voila! Your room is suddenly the beach personified! It is thus bound to have a positive impact on your mood.

With some of these ideas, we hope to have inspired you to transform your regular home into a serene cocoon of comfort for you and your family. Sometimes, sameness can cause restlessness. Incorporate some of these colours, patterns, designs and themes and watch as you begin to enjoy your house ten times more than you did before. Along with this humble guide, we also have a range of options within it and beyond for your ease of finding these items all in one place! So, what are you waiting for? Indulge and de-stress today!
