S/P Trap

Maybe you need to upgrade your plumbing without replacing the entire suite. Consider whether you need an S or P trap? If you’re thinking what on earth is an S/P trap? Good question. An S-trap is a pipe specifically for plumbing that typically comes from the floor. This is done for underground plumbing (think ground floor houses). A P-trap is a pipe specifically for plumbing that comes from the wall (think apartments and hotels not on the ground floor) that connects to internal plumbing. It’s important to know the difference when making a purchase as the internal configuration of these toilets are different and can delay your build if you order the wrong trap. Some toilet suites have the option to install either an s-trap or a p-trap  so make sure you carefully read the specifications and clarify with the seller prior to purchase. 

Are you interested in improving the functionality of your toilet? Consider upgrading to a more advanced wall cistern such as a Geberit or an R&T. Both operate efficiently in their own right.  

Rimless vs Tornado Flush

Maybe you want an upgrade, but you don’t have a wall cistern and enjoy a freestanding toilet instead. Consider choosing between Tornado or Rimless flush technology. Choosing a toilet based off of the flush type is up to personal preference. A Tornado flush comes from jets in the top of the toilet pan and flushes like a tornado. It’s the toilet most people imagine when they think of a toilet. A Rimless flush doesn’t have holes in the toilet pan and so the flush comes from the bottom of the bowl and evenly distributes the water around the pan for efficient waste removal.
